How To Match The Capacity Of Photovoltaic Panels, Inverters, Lithium Batteries?

Jul 12, 2024

For the configuration of photovoltaic panels, it mainly depends on the needs of customers and use scenarios.
Key factors: illumination duration, load size, battery backup duration, and whether the battery is connected to the grid.

For example:

Load 3KW,

The load operates at full time during the 7Hrs light period,

Run 10Hrs at non-light time,

With only photovoltaic as input,

If it rains the next day, consider mains or diesel generators.

The following is the specific calculation process:

Daily total electricity consumption: 3KW * 17hrs = 51kwh

Battery time required: 10 hrs

Battery power supply: 3KW * 10=30kwh, considering the battery DOD@80%, the total capacity of the optional battery 30KWH/0.8= 37.5KWH

MPPT power: 51KWH/7hrs=7.3KW

Inverter power: 3KW/0.8= 3.75KW

Photovoltaic panel: 51KWH/7hrs/0.9= 8.1KW

Based on the above calculation, the actual configuration is as follows:

Photovoltaic panel: 580W * 14pcs

Inverter: 8KW or 10 kW 1unit

Lithium battery: 10.24KWh* 4units, or 14.4KWH*3units

From the current order demand point of view, for home energy storage, most customers can choose: the battery is 2-3 times that of the inverter, such as the inverter 5-10KW, the battery is optional 10-15KWH.
